Noi reguli pentru obținerea cetățeniei Republicii Moldova. Ce trebuie să știi dacă vrei să depui cererea?

New rules for obtaining citizenship of the Republic of Moldova. What do you need to know if you want to apply?

The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova is considering a new draft law on citizenship, aimed at clarifying and streamlining the process of granting Moldovan citizenship. Among the most important proposed changes are the introduction of additional requirements for applicants, as well as better regulation of procedures, especially regarding minors and combating the risks of fraud.

One of the main changes is the mandatory knowledge of the Romanian language and the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova for all categories of applicants. This requirement aims to facilitate the social and cultural integration of new citizens. At the same time, the draft also provides for the clear definition of exceptions, in the case of vulnerable or specific categories.

Another essential aspect is the clear separation of the procedures for acquiring citizenship through recognition for minors and for adults. This delimitation will allow for a more correct application of the law and will ensure the necessary protection for children involved in these procedures.

At the same time, the new bill excludes the possibility of submitting the citizenship application through a proxy or intermediaries, establishing that it must be submitted in person by the applicant. The measure is intended to increase transparency, reduce corruption risks and ensure a fair and safer process.

In addition to these provisions, the project also proposes:

- Unification of procedures for acquiring citizenship through recognition, regardless of the reason for the application;

- Establishing strict document verification measures to prevent fraud and protect national security;

- Rejection of requests from persons targeted by international sanctions;

- Clarification of the legal duration of residence required to acquire citizenship through naturalization.

In this context, it is essential that applicants are well informed and properly assisted at all stages of the procedure.
